Albatros Expeditions offers a variety of voyages exploring South Georgia and the surrounding region.

Tourism in South Georgia is extremely limited. Thousands of miles from the South American mainland, frozen and inhospitable, the island has no air transport facilities, and no real infrastructure for visitors (excluding the small museum in Grytviken. This means tourism on the island is limited entirely to expedition ships and other small vessels, usually arriving from the Falklands.

More than almost any other destination, reaching, landing on and exploring South Georgia is dependent on the whims of Mother Nature. The island commonly experiences punishing ocean swells, wind, rain, snow, fog and sleet - often all within the same hour! The capricious ocean currents here make unpredictability the only certainty of the weather here! Our Expedition Team and Captain will work hard to maximise opportunities to explore, and our small vessels offer us the flexibility to change our plans in case of poor weather.
