Depart through Lerwick on this short scenic drive towards Scalloway, which was once Shetland’s capital. Pause here briefly for a photo stop from an elevated position and enjoy the views of this charming village and the imposing Scalloway Castle, built by Patrick Stewart, 2nd Earl of Orkney.

From here, continue eastwards towards Lerwick once more, traversing through the area that is locally known as the “Black Gates” – an area where peat is still cut to use as fuel.

Following the road northwards, Clickimin Broch is only a short drive away. Stop here to discover this well preserved and restored Broch and learn more about life in the Iron Age with your guide on hand to answer questions.

Return to town and enjoy some free time to browse the shops, visit the museum at leisure or re-join your awaiting ship
