Lars Maltha

An experienced Naturalist and Field Biologist originally from the coast of Denmark’s Wadden Sea, Lars has a Masters in Landscape Planning and a prolific background in science and exploration. A multitude of opportunities have allowed him to pursue his passion for birds, as well as for marine mammals and plant life. His scientific research positions have included time as a biologist managing a field station, conducting marine mammal surveys by ship and air and counting caribou by snow mobile. He has also conducted raptor migration studies and even spent 5 years as a scientist in Greenland.

Lars is fluent in Danish and English, understands some German, and has worked as a field staff manager, expedition leader, naturalist and Zodiac driver on expedition cruises throughout the cold waters of Greenland, Iceland, Svalbard, the Bering Sea, the Gulf of Alaska, Antarctica and the South Pacific’s sub-Antarctica Islands. Other expeditions have led him to Southeast Asia, Central America and the West Indies. During his spare time, Lars is also an avid photographer.
